Humboldt Bay Benthic and Shoreline Digital Elevation Data

Description

Benthic maps and a bottom characterization of Humboldt Bay were produced by a CICORE partnership. Multibeam and single beam sonar surveys were conducted from July 28 to August 1, 2005. Fusion of multibeam with existing terrestrial LIDAR and PHILLS-derived bathymetry were performed February, 2006.

The multibeam survey provides new acoustic seafloor mapping data for Humboldt Bay, as well as an opportunity to validate the hyperspectral imagery (HIS) benthic products for this area.

The datasets provided here were created by the Seafloor Mapping Lab, California State University Monterey Bay (Director: Rikk Kvitek; Projects Manager: Pat Iampietro). Additional support for this project was provided by Coast Seafoods Co. and The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District.
